Day 1 - Political parties
In the United States of America, we have two main political parties. Today you are going to learn about the Democrats and the Republicans. How are they similar? How are they different? Which party to you think you might want to be a part of?
Use the following resources to learn about the different political parties. With a partner, fill in your venn diagram with the information you find. Make sure to include the parties' symbols and their candidates for 2012. Each category should have at least SIX new facts. Make sure to look at all the provided websites!

When you are your partner have finished, think about the two political parties. Does one sound better to you than the other? Individually, write a short (4 - 5 sentences) explanation of which party you would like to be a part of. Remember: Not everyone knows what party they support! If you're not sure, explain what you like or dislike about each party.
At the end of DAY 1 you should have signatures on:
1. Venn-Diagram (partner)
2. Choice of political party (individual)
